Greetings from Maryland! I am an Academic Technologist working just outside Washington, DC in College Park. I am originally from western NY state but after getting my BA in Spanish, I headed to Maryland to teach at the high school level. It was very exciting to start my teaching career right when the internet was just getting started. It’s been amazing to witness the progression of technology and how it can impact teaching and learning. The world has become so much smaller and more accessible. After earning my M Ed., I moved into my current position which is supporting Higher Ed faculty in the School of Languages here at the University.
It seems that everywhere I go I am hearing more about Moocs so I figured I had better jump in and see where it leads and also learn about any new tools out there. I have been working here for over ten years now and I still love it! I am also a mom of three kids – ages 3, 7 and 9 who keep me very busy.
