Bloom’s Taxonomy Juli Style!

I had an exciting day yesterday at the Ferst Foundation charity luncheon.  The Ferst Foundation is an organization that supplies children in Georgia from birth to age 5 one book per month free of charge.  Each table at the luncheon was sponsored by a different group who decorated the table using a book theme.  Our table was decorated for the book Three Hens and a Peacock by, Lester L. Laminack.   The keynote speaker was Sandra Deal, the First Lady of Georgia.  For more information on the Ferst Foundation go to www.ferstfoundation.org

I’ve been working on my own version of Bloom’s Taxonomy and technology integration.  I’ve seen several of these pyramids on the Internet with lots of software and websites at each level of Bloom’s.  I love the visual and decided to make my own.  I tested several different sources that I’ve seen in other versions of this chart to see if they would fit the needs at my school.  Some I kept, some I dumped and I added a lot of my own personal favorites.  Most of the one’s I have on my chart are free but there are a few that would be worth a subscription.  I also didn’t want to overwhelm my teachers with too many sources, so I kept it simple.  My plan is to give each teacher a chart for reference.  My hope is that they will find one or two of these sources useful and begin to move toward integrating technology that fits their lessons and their students’ needs.  I also want them to see where they are in the process of technology integration.  I think most will find that they are still just in the basic recall, especially as it comes to “games on the Interent”, which is where many educators send their students.  That’s fine and all, but there is more to technology than simple recall gaming.  I left ALL game sites off my chart.   One more thing,  a colleague sent me this link to a great chart showing the difference between using technology and integrating techologyIntegrating Technology
