The Heart of Rock & Roll

Inspired to Keep Beating

I teach an 8-week computer and workforce development course at MCCC.  It is fueled by the American Recovery Reinvestment Act and the Workforce Investment Board – the intent is to preserve and create jobs as well as promote economic recovery.  Nonetheless, I kick-off the Soft Skills session with a video that features WIB Board Member, Eileen Mullen. Professionally, Mullen is the Director of Training and Development of ASTM International. She lends her advice in three video segments, which are provided to me by PA Career Link of Montgomery County. In the one segment her message is very clear: submit to something greater than yourself. A woman who works for Non-Profit Organization is no stranger to walking to the walk. I Googled her name to find we have something in common: Hearts.

31 Bag Bingo - Stosh Frydlewicz 018

31 Bag Bingo Fundraiser to benefit Heart Warrior, Stosh.

This past April with the help of our dedicated family and friends, we put together a fundraiser to benefit our Heart Warrior, Stosh Frydlewicz. It was a 31 Bag Bingo that featured 15 or so Bingo games, there were also many 31 bags filled with fabulous prizes — sponsored by restaurants, sports teams, photographers, etc. — that were raffled off to lucky participants. Finally, there was a Silent Auction package that featured “The Ultimate Tailgate Experience.” It’s easy to submit yourself to something greater when the fight involves one of your loved ones. It is easier to talk to the talk, but Stosh and his fellow Heart Warriors — and their family and friends — truly walk the walk…everyday. View the segment from ABC News & World Report that aired on December 22, 2012 Miracle Baby: Heart Surgery Before Birth Saves Baby’s Life because “the heart of rock and roll is still beating”…beating the odds! If you walk the walk…YOU ROCK!
