I can’t believe what a ridiculously inept system is being used by the student loans company.  The website I use to see how much money I have outstanding is 18 months behind my actual balance. This is because they’re waiting for my P60 to be sent through to them. What I want to know is, why isn’t their system tracking how much money is actually being paid in to them each month? Why does it need my p60 to prove this? Do none of these systems connect with each other? Obviously not!  And now the student loans company owes me a few hundred pounds as it takes 30 days for a stop to take effect on the account. So they have the control to stop the request for money to be taken, just not track it coming in!??

I wonder just how many people are still paying off their loans thinking that the SLC must have it all under control, and yet they probably finished paying it off months or years ago.  

I urge all ex-students to arm themselves with their p60’s and payslips and call the SLC up right now to find out their ACTUAL BALANCE!! Don’t pay any attention to what’s on the website.

Would banks get away with this behaviour?? I think not. Would we be allowed to get away with this behaviour?? Hell no!!
