Field Trip – Cabela’s

 Field Trip to Cabela’s — Hamburg, PA

The Retail Marketing and Sales students visited Cabela’s on Tuesday, November 19, 2013. The students were given a presentation on the history of the store, the marketing strategies, and even went a tour of the facility.

Fun fact: Cabela’s hosts 7 million tourists/shoppers per year, which is second to the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia, PA.

As a result of our trip, we modeled our classroom commercial strategies based on Cabela’s “It’s in your nature” marketing campaign. The web 2.0 tool we used is called, Aniomoto.  The strategy was to use the power of text and music instead of your voice to communicate your message to the audience.

Our field trip served as  a meaningful experience that bridged the gap between the textbook theory and real world application. I would definitely take students here again in the near future.
