Today I introduced my students to Eagle and Star, our new Sphero robots. Needless to say, the kids LOVE them and were very excited to see all the apps that can make these little balls come to life!
My favorite apps to use with Sphero are:
Sphero Draw n’ Drive; With this app, students can draw a simple design on the screen of the Ipad and then press play to see the Sphero create the design on the floor. My students had a great time trying to draw out an obstacle course and see if the robot could maneuver through correctly.
Sphero: This is the basic app that allows you to drive Sphero like a remote control car. The students used this app first to get acclimated to the robot.
Lightning Lab: In my opinion, this is the most innovative app for Sphero. This app allows students to code with Sphero and then watch Sphero do what they have created. It is a simple way to teach block coding and actually see how this type of computer programming is useful in everyday life.
