Hello and welcome!
My Name is Kenneth Griswold, and this is my blog. I am an educator, a husband, an expectant father, and, always, a learner.
As the title of this inaugural post suggests, I am “late” to the party, in more than one way. I just joined the #ETMOOCcommunity at the end of its first week. For the uninitiated, #ETMOOC is a Massively Open Online Course focused on educational technology. Follow the link for more information.
I also am “late” in that this is my first serious attempt at blogging. Until now my role online has been more passive or short form. I have been a prolific “follower” of leaders in the edtech world, and I use my twitter, diigo, and google reader accounts to read, collect, curate, and share resources and ideas with other educators. But I have not taken a very active role in contributing or collaborating to produce new work or content as part of this edtech community. Participants in the ETMOOC are encouraged to create a blog as a way to join the conversation, showcase their work in the MOOC, and reflect on the collective journey together as members of the community. I am excited about this opportunity to take a more active role in this world.
Our first “assignment” is to create a brief personal introduction about ourselves for the community on the ETMOOC blog hub. Here’s mine. I used the XtraNormal animation tool to create it. I found the tool simple to use, though if I had taken more time, I think I could have done more with it. I wanted to embed it here, but my free account at EduBlogs does not support embedding. So, follow the link, and enjoy!
