Summer Craft I

Grand Finale

Clapper BoardFireworks are synonymous with celebrating The 4th of July. I have fond memories of vising the Capitol and watching the amazing fireworks display when I was in college. It was a huge production: crowds of people,  public transportation, vendors and (of course) the fireworks show. The Capitol was “the place” and any show I’ve seen since has not come close to its spectacular display.

My kiddos are too young to appreciate fireworks, but they do love a good snack — and that is why we created a firework of our own. It was inspired by a delicious treat we had on the boardwalk in Ocean City, NJ. We decided to recreate our without a photo (3)twist (insert winking emoticon here). Our idea was pretzel rod sparklers! We dipped the rods into a container of Fluff followed by a dip into some rainbow sprinkles. We placed the final product into a Mason jar and used them as a vanishing center piece at our 4th of July picnic  as well as party favors for our guests to snack on as they drove home because chances were that they’d be slowed down due to gaper delays from surrounding firework shows. Happy Birthday, America!
