Quality Matters Monday: Standard 1.5

QMIt’s Quality Matters Monday! Each Monday, we will highlight a Quality Matters standard and review its importance in an online course and how we evaluate this standard.

Today, we are reviewing Quality Matters Standard 1.5.

Click here to view Quality Matters Standard 1.5 in the Quality Matters Rubric. This standard addresses the inclusion of minimum technology requirements with which the learner is expected to meet.

It is important to remember that these requirements may be established by the instructor or by the institution and all should be included in the course. The best locations for these requirements are in the syllabus and/or the “Start Here” section of the course.

Examples of technology requirements (if needed) are: speakers, a microphone, and/or a headset; a list of required downloadable resources, including links; and instruction on how to access publisher materials.

In our demo course, BUSN 7000 Start-Ups: Venturing into Entrepreneurship, you can find examples of how to meet QM Standard 1.5 by looking at the “Technical Requirements” page in the “Start Here” section.
