Welcome Day

Each year the SRC hosts our Welcome Day at the park.  All of the student body is bussed to the Provincial Park for the day for fun and relaxation.  There are an abundance of activities planned as well as a hot dog and corn on the cob lunch supplied for everyone.  This is always a great day as we are all missing the beach those first few days back at the books.  I must say this year was one of the best that I have been involved with in my 11 years at this school.

Our fearless leader was quite excited with his new find and it really worked well.  A company in Saskatoon rented us a 70 foot long blow up obstacle course complete with a wall climb.  This activity was lined up all day long even in the +30 degree weather.  Students were “kids” laughing and charging  through the maze trying to race each other to the end of the slide.  It really was fun to be a part of.

Students were also quite involved with the challenges throughout the day. At times there were record breaking participation numbers, especially in the egg toss event which had over 40 participants.

Our staff once again proved how amazing they truly are helping with the many activities, events and food preparation.  I was amazed as the obstacle course was packed up in a matter of minutes – thanks to a wonderful crew who pitched in and got er done.   It is really great to work with such tremendous people.

I must not forget the wonderful students on SRC.  They truly are an amazing and energetic group.  This group really took responsibility for organizing and executing events and should be congratulated on the many successes and happy faces during the day.  I am truly lucky to work with such amazing students.  What a great way to begin our school year.
