A Menagerie of Online Art Activities

 

As a part of our curriculum, I sometimes talk about art with my students. They like to hear about the life of the artists, reviews and stories behind the artworks. We also use internet so, I have a collection of ‘online art websites’ that I want to share.

Here they are;

youtube education – Videos on any subject to use in your class. Art is one of them…

artsology – Artsology is a website where you can play free online games related to the arts and music. Make sure to also visit their Investigations page, where you can dig deeper into interesting topics in the arts. Want to see some unusual pictures or find some unexpected things?

picassohead – Piccassohead is a digital tool that allows users to create their own masterpieces using famous features drawn by Picasso, is a creation of award winning digital agency RFI Studios and global public relations company Ruder Finn.

learninggamesforkids – Introducing the arts in the form of games is a great way to start them out with a love for art and music.

artsonia – Enjoy the millions of pieces of kids’ artwork showcased!

incredibleart – IAD is a huge online resource for anyone who loves the visual arts.

nga – Adventures with art. Art zone must be seen.

kids.nationalgeographic – Photo gallery can be used for talking about photography.

culturestreet – Culture Street is a one-stop destination to introduce young people to contemporary artists, writers, filmmakers and performers and their amazing work – both online and in the real world.

switchzoo – Make your own animal and use different colors.

BBC – Colour Factory – Get to work in the Colour Factory. Mix up your pots and paint your pictures. You can even print them out.
