Who? What? Why? (bother)

So …. I know for a fact that I have a tendency towards procrastination. I’ve enrolled in about 4 MOOCs so far and although I have every intention of putting aside a certain amount of time each week to engage and explore…. but without fail; I never do.

Perhaps the motivation to study Instructional Ideas and Technology Tools for Online Success just wasn’t there. Did I really want to learn about Equine Nutrition or was it just professional curiosity in seeing what the fuss about MOOCS was all about? Probably.

I find that ‘real work’ gets in the way, deadlines loom or I get distracted by the internet in general and things that my friends have tweeted about (like this excellent Dr Who ring created by @haikugirloz).

So this could be my first and only blog post. Based on previous experiences. I am expecting that I’ll drop out and become a statistic by Week 3.

But I am at least going to try and if nothing else I hope to come out of this MOOC with some useful bookmarks and hopefully some connections and experts that I can refer to later. I really need to pay someone to compile all the useful links being shared through the #etmooc blog/hub/G+ sites. And then I need someone to filter it for me based on my current knowledge. Oh, I suppose I’m the only one who can do that…. sigh.

ALSO, WHY AM I DOING THIS ON A SUNDAY? Time to go walk the dog instead.

Ps: I completely forgot the who point of this initial blog post – introductions. My name is Jacqui and I live in Perth, Western Australia. I work at Curtin University as an eLearning Advisor and provide a lot of professional development to academic staff.  I like dogs, indi music, watching comedy shows and I don’t do enough photography or travel as much as I’d like. This time last year I was attempting to see the Northern Lights in Norway. It was GREAT. I much prefer snow over sunshine.
