Teacher Leadership, EdTech , #ETMOOC, oh my!

I’m in grad school, working diligently towards my degree in Educational Technology.  The course I started this week is on Teacher Leadership and already, I’m able to see the comparisons to working in educational technology.

amen to THAT!

One article in particular has caused a good deal of reflection for me: Teacher Leadership, by Shelly Kurtz outlines what makes a good instructional leader in a school building and how this doesn’t necessarily mean being the principal.

Consider this quote:

Teachers who are instructional leaders are generally teachers who work very collaboratively with their colleagues. They make it a priority to find the time to meet, and they enjoy working with others. These instructional leaders reveal new ways of doing things by modeling new instructional strategies, freely sharing their knowledge and areas of expertise with others, initiating new programs, and making instructional decisions based on what is best for students.

Isn’t that what we’re doing? We’re going to work collaboratively. We have carved out time for this learning experience, we want to find new ways to be the great teachers we are and want to share what we know with each other.

We are Teacher Leaders.

Doesn’t that give you a warm, fuzzy feeling inside?

Let’s do this people!  Let’s LEAD!`
