Discovering Treasures with Prezi

I must admit that I have felt a little intimidated with the idea of creating my first Prezi for a presentation that I am giving this Thursday.  My anxiety has held me back from actually creating the Prezi.  I am one of those people that needs time to think and reflect before starting a project.  I do that with my research papers as well.  I will spend a lot of time reading and researching then I write my paper in the shortest amount of time possible.  I now know what I would like to include in the Prezi but I really needed have fun with the application first.

Last November, I was at a conference in which someone used a Prezi instead of PowerPoint.  It was refreshing to see something different and I was hooked.  When I returned home, I told my ten year old daughter that she needs to learn Prezi for her next oral presentation she is asked to complete.  My daughter told me that she already knew PowerPoint and that she was good with using that application.    She is not a risk taker so I thought that I would create a Prezi just for her.  I have created this Prezi to convince her but also for me to try a small project before diving into the larger one at hand.

So far, I have found the Prezi very user friendly and really like the templates.  I am sure as I work with Prezi more that I will no longer appreciate the templates and want to create my own.  I have felt the same way about PowerPoint as I have tired of the templates. The template only offered six circles  to write in but I needed seven.  I was concerned but it was so easy to add another circle as it is easy to add another slide in PowerPoint.  I must admit that I have not really played with PowerPoint to make adequate comparisons throughout but I did like the option of adding a YouTube video to the presentation.

So without further delay, below is the Prezi I created for my daughter.  I will let you know tomorrow what she thought of it.
