Title: What makes online discussion more engaging? Investigating students’ perception of communication medium

Joohi Lee, Ph.D.

Bios:

Joohi Lee, Ph. D. is an Associate Professor of Elementary and Early Childhood Education at The University of Texas at Arlington. Dr. Lee has strong research and professional expertise in Early and Elementary Mathematics Education associated with teacher education in relation to children’s math proficiency.

Dr. Leisa Martin

She has also conducted extensive research on math performance of minority children in an effort to improve the quality of teachers who serve diverse

populations.

Leisa A. Martin, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of social studies education at The University of Texas at Arlington. Her research examines civic education including students’ views on the United States Pledge of Allegiance, students’ views on service-learning, and students’ views on online education.

Jun Sun, Ph.D.

University: University of Texas-Pan American

Title: A Longitudinal Study of Technology-Learning Alignment in Online Program Delivery

Bio: Dr. Jun Sun is an Associate Professor of Computer Information Systems and Quantitative Methods at The University of Texas – Pan American. He received his Ph.D. in Information and Operations Management from Texas A&M University. One of his research interests is the use of information technology for innovative education. Relevant work has appeared in the Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education, Information Systems Education Journal, International Journal of Services and Standards, Learning and Individual Differences, and so on.

Dr. Ramiro de la Rosa

Name: Ramiro de la Rosa

University: University of Texas-Pan American

Title: Full online vs. hybrid: Do students’ personality traits and perceptions make a difference?

Bio: Dr. Ramiro (Ram) de la Rosa holds a Doctor of Philosophy from Our Lady of the Lake University, a Master of Education from Texas Tech University and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University.

Dr. de la Rosa has 14 years of experience in the field of online education, and has served as Director, Assistant Director and Instructional Developer/Designer.

Dr. de la Rosa teaches online graduate courses. Dr. de la Rosa’s research focuses on the perception, interaction, and personality traits of online students.
