Yesterday was Family Day here in Alberta. Our family had planned to go skiing but the wether has been so nice the skil hill was closed so we spent the afternoon at Hawrelak Park at the Silver Skate Festival.
We arrived as they were announcing the winners of the carving competition,
We checked out the new warming huts, which are a Make Something Edmonton project.
We watched snow sculptors at work. And we watched people skating and playing shinny on the pond.
We toured a beautiful lantern installation. It looked great during the day so it must look fantastic at night.
I think it’s the first winter festival I’ve been to in Edmonton where the fire pits weren’t crowded. It was so warm they weren’t even lit.
It was a fantastic way to spend Family Day. How id you celebrate?
